The Best Cradle Cap Brush

May 6, 2018 by Amelia Zamora 2 Comments

Cradle cap. It’s a common, yet annoying part of the infant-to-baby stage that most babies go through.

Now when I say annoying, it’s usually not bothersome to the baby, but to the parents it’s just a huge pain (and let’s face it-you can’t help but pick it!). But before you pick it, lets review the best cradle cap brush.

My mom and I used to sit and use a fine tooth comb and try to pick it off and it would flake and get EVERYWHERE (plus it was gross).

We would pick at it and my little one would get so annoyed and bothered by us pawing at her tiny little head, but we just couldn’t help ourselves.

I hated doing it, but it was just too gross to leave alone.

I was scrolling through Instagram one day and I came across this post from FridaBaby (the company who makes the infamous nose sucker I reviewed previously here).

They were posting about this new tool called the DermaFrida.

This is basically a soft silicone brush for cradle cap, dry skin, or eczema. I was so excited to see this post!!!

I immediately decided I wanted to try this out. They sent me one to try and review.

I got it in the mail a few days later and it was this pretty white bristled brush which has the SOFTEST bristles I have ever felt.

Before I found this product, I thought about using a similar style “brush” that I use to gently exfoliate my face.

I got it at a Japanese store/market inside the mall for about $2 and I figured “oh that’ll work just as good and it’s cheaper than the FridaBaby one”.

Yes this is true it was cheaper, but after I received the DermaBaby brush I felt the difference and man the bristles on the DermaBaby one are sooo much softer (plus the circumference it bigger so you get more surface space at once).

Now I’m sure if you’re ballin’-on-a-budget you could find a cheaper alternative, but honestly this product is well worth the $10.

Plus if you get it in a bundle box, it’s $40 for 4 different products.

Many of you may be wondering how my little one liked it. While she is only 12 weeks old and can’t tell me directly, I will say this: she did not squirm, try and wiggle away from me, or try and smack my hand away while I used this product!

She sat there in her tub while I brushed in circular motions with some baby soap and enjoyed the nice little baby massage she got.

Plus I used it on her body for a little massage and she seemed to love it.

PROS:

  • Easy to use
  • Easy to clean
  • Soft, silicone bristles
  • Finger holder on the back for parents
  • Can use with soap in the tub to help with cradle cap or use with lotion for dry skin/eczema
  • Inexpensive ($10 on amazon or target)

CONS:

  • There are cheaper alternatives out there, but remember you get what you pay for

Overall this product is simple to use, easy to clean, and worth the money.
