Toddlers have tons of energy, energy we moms wish we had, am I right? Here are some of the best outside toys and other products you need for high energy toddler activities.
You deserve it mama! You need a break and you need to give yourself a way to get that, besides nap-times. 10 Outside Toys & Products
Besides the usual, bubbles and chalk, (which you can find anywhere, even the Dollar Tree) there are other simple things to purchase to give yourself some sanity back:
Small Swing Set
For example, this small swing set from Walmart has seriously been a life saver at our house. Here is the link for the one we purchased. It has 2 swings and an attached slide!
It has been the item my kids play with the most and it only cost $80!
(Unfortunately when I looked the exact model we have is sold out/discontinued, but here is the new model, the only difference is the added bar in between the swings and its a big more expensive $119).
Play House
Another possibility you may want to purchase is a play house for outside. This one from Target, has been the best thing we got gifted from a friend.
And if you are on a budget or don’t want to spend a ton of money on something that will sit outside all day everyday, check your local Facebook Marketplace, yard sales, or the NextDoor app (which is a neighborhood local app that some people post stuff for free or low cost).
Tons of people are selling kid items that theirs have grown out of so you might score a great deal.
Kids Table
This Little Tikes kid picnic table has also been a great item to have in the yard! This one comes with a little umbrella to give some extra shade.
You can even have lunch or snacks on the table or let the kids do a messy art project on it without destroying your home.
Cones
Another small priced item are sports cones. I got these from Target and they have endless possibilities.
I’ve used them to set up a race course or obstacle course to burn energy and I will time my kids and see who is faster, or make some other friendly competition to burn that energy.
You could also use the cones to play sports like soccer in the yard. Just need some cones and a soccer ball, (and if you’re feeling fancy you can get this super simple soccer net like this one from Target).
Mini Trampoline
You may also want to purchase a mini trampoline. This one here is the type we have that we got from Target, but they also sell on Amazon.
It will let your kids hold on and safely bounce out that energy without the risk (and cost) of a huge trampoline.
This is great for smaller backyards or even inside the house to have the bounce on this instead of off the walls.
Sports Set
Another great option you may want to consider besides just bouncy balls and soccer balls are sport sets.
Plastic sets that are specifically designed for small kids. This T-Ball set we have has been so fun to watch our girls hit the ball and run the bases (another use for those cones mentioned earlier).
They love cheering each other on, and this is even something the whole family can join in on too!
Kiddy Pool
You could also get a plastic kiddy pool or an inflatable one if that works better for your backyard.
These are great because you can even put a small slide into it and make it even more entertaining.
Plus kids love just splashing around in water anyways.
Water Activity Table
Speaking of water, these water tables are amazing! You need one of these bad boys!
They are so fun and this one from Amazon came with unicorn toys that matched the theme of the water table. It is the cutest thing and easy to put together!
Plus this one has a drain in the center so you just unplug it and clear out the water, no need to turn it over to dump the water out!
DIY Sand Box
Another great activity outside is a DIY sand box. Basically you just get a storage tote (with a lid to keep bugs and animals out), and fill with bag of sand and some toys and make you own sensory activity bin!
Fun Sprinkler
One last simple but classic is a little sprinkler head!
Before we got our little kiddy pools, the kids used to just run through this flower sprinkler attachment to the hose and absolutely loved it!
Plus they would run and run through it which burned so much energy! Mom win!
BONUS INDOOR ACTIVITY
Just in case you may not have a big backyard or the ability to go outside, here is an indoor activity you can easy make with some washi tape or masking tape!
A indoor road map for play cars! Loads of fun and you can recreate every day and make the designs different every time!
Hopefully these items have sparked some ideas to provide you with some outside activities for those energetic kids. If you need more mom hacks, read this post here on how to gain more energy and avoid that stay at home mom burnout!

I’d love to see some relaxing mamas outside enjoying themselves (and their kids too!).
