Why I Shaved My Face…

April 10, 2019 by Amelia Zamora Leave a Comment

No, I’m not a hairy woman. No, I don’t have dark facial hair. No, I didn’t need to shave to my face. I chose to and here’s why…

I wanted smoother skin and my makeup to be flawless. Now I am no way or shape a makeup artist, but I wanted smoother skin and my makeup to not look cakey.

I don’t pack on the makeup like some do, I’m a mom so I don’t have time for the whole primer, foundation, concealer, contour, etc etc makeup routine.

For the most part my routine is simple.

But I had the problem of my concealer and foundation on certain parts of my face looking creased and not smooth like I’d see on Instagram or even on real life people.

I didn’t just one day wake up and say “I’m going to shave my face cuz why not?!”

It didn’t happen this way. I was down the YouTube wormhole and came across one video about how this woman shaved her face and why.

So I clicked on it and it was a funny and yet intriguing video. Just YouTube it and you’ll find thousands of videos on it!

Now she didn’t have dark facial hair either, but she explained how a friend of hers told her about how she shaved the peach hairs off her face and it made her makeup flawless.

So as I am watching this video, I find myself nodding along with her reasoning and thinking to myself, “I have the exact same issues!”.

Now before you chalk me up as just being insane and “extra”, hear me out.

I didn’t just take my husbands razor and go to town on my face. NO!

There are actually these small womans face razors out on the beauty market and I actually had some in my cabinet I used years ago and sort of just tossed them aside since I tried them once for brows and didn’t care for them.

This is the type of “razor” I used. It is not sharp, it is not a “real” razor like you would use on your legs. See the photo for what I’m talking about.

So I took the small razor and just gentle glided it in small downward motions with the grain of my hairs and I was SHOCKED at how much peach fuzz came off.

Like I said before I am not a hairy person, you cant see the peach fuzz on my face unless you were all up in my grill.

I “shaved” my entire face.

Forehead, cheeks, jaw line, nose, and around my mouth.

I recommend being extremely careful around these areas and you should not put pressure against your face.

And I put shaved in quotes because a lot of people I have told in real life are shocked when I tell them and I get a lot of deer in headlights looks from people.

But don’t knock it until you try it. Granted I am no way endorsing this for young girls. I just wanted to try it since I heard the benefits and thought why not try it.

I also did research about hair growth back and an esthetician blogged that hair growth is genetic and hormonal.

Shaving will not automatically make the hair grow back thicker and darker. It’s all hormonal and genetics.

The results? I was astonished. I felt my face when I was done and it felt so smooth! It was like a baby’s booty!

It was so soft and smooth I couldn’t stop touching my face. The videos and articles I watched said to “shave” on a clean, freshly cleansed face.

So I did just that! I washed my face and toned it with this toner and then “shaved”.

Afterwards I put on moisturizer and it felt amazing!

The small woman’s face razor also exfoliated all the dead skin cells off my face too so that is an added bonus. My skin felt younger and looked so fresh!

Now the test was the next morning with makeup.

I woke up and was so eager to test it out. And I was not disappointed.

My tinted moisturizer, I use this one, went on so smooth! Unlike ever before! I used the tinted moisturizer then did concealer on certain spots that needed it on my face like I usually do.

After I blended and set with powder, I was so happy! It looked so smooth and supple like I wasn’t even wearing makeup!

Now the test, I went out with my sister-in-law later and she even commented on how smooth my face looked!

That it looked so good like I wasn’t even wearing makeup!

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

You can see in the before photo my makeup looks wrinkly and caked around my eyes and forehead.

The after my skin as a whole looks brighter and smoother after the exfoliation of scraping the dead skin off!

Plus my makeup just overall looks smoother in my opinion.

It was recommended in the videos that you do not have to do this daily or even weekly, some only do this once every few months and some just once a year!

It all depends on your personal preference and how quick your hair grows. Now I have only done this once and that was almost a month ago and just now getting signs of peach fuzz coming back, so I am pleasantly surprised at this whole experience.

PROS:

  • exfoliates face
  • gets rid of unwanted facial hair or peach fuzz
  • makeup/moisturizers go on so smooth and flawless
  • lady face razors are very inexpensive, a pack of 3 is around $5

CONS:

  • have to be gentle and cautious so you don’t clip off an eyebrow in the process

Overall these cons do not deter me from this whole process because my face feels so smooth and amazing and even if you do not think you are hairy.

Everyone has peach fuzz on their body and you will be shocked how much is removed during this whole process.

But please before you attempt this, do your own research and be extremely careful.

I am not an esthetician and I am not a doctor so please do this at your own desire and risk.

UPDATE 2023: NO MY HAIR DID NOT GROW BACK DARKER OR THICKER. I have been doing this for years now and my hair is the same peach fuzz every time! So rest assured.
