Who loves having clear, glowing, young looking skin, I know I do! Who hates spending hundred of dollars on products each year on skincare that all claim to brighten, tone, lift, enhance, etc their skin? I know I definitely do! This is why my skin regimen is affordable.
I love watching YouTube videos and reading blog posts about other people’s skin regimen, as well as morning and night time routines. It’s addicting! Anyone else?
Well if you are anything like me, you see your favorite YouTuber’s skincare routine and watch intensely at the products they use and listen to them describe what it does for their skin regimen.
They list all these great products, but when I click in their description box for the price of the product, I get sent to the site and my jaw hits the floor on how much these items cost.

I get so frustrated when someone I admire on YouTube says a product is “life-changing” and then of course I want the product too and soon realize they are spending $75 on a moisturizer.
A TINY AMOUNT OF MOISTURIZER FOR SEVENTY-FIVE DOLLARS?!?!
You’ve got to be kidding me! HARD PASS.
I don’t know about you, but as a mama of two on a single income, I cannot afford a $75 moisturizer or any skincare/beauty product for that matter.
Pretty sure my husband would flip his lid if I said my moisturizer was $75! Anyone else’s?
However, after I pick my jaw up off the floor and get over my frustrations, I look at the ingredient list of that pricey product and I find similar products at drugstores, mainly Target.
Now, by no means do I have “perfect” skin, but my skin has come a long way and looks good enough that I feel confident in wearing no foundation/coverup most days!
For me, that is huge! I used to pile it ON! But I decided to invest more TIME in my skin regimen and that way I wouldn’t have to purchase a ton of makeup products!
Now for the goods, my skin regimen is SIMPLE. I’m a mom of two girls under 6 years old, I don’t have time for elaborate routines and product applications.
I need and long for simplicity in my life.
Therefore, I only use 5 products in my total routine (and some days even just 3 if I’m feeling lazy).
PRODUCTS IN ORDER:
- Aveeno Ultra-Calming Makeup Remover Wipes. I get this product for $5.99 at Target.
- Neutrogena Hydroboost Exfoliating Cleanser. I get this product for $7.99 at Target.
- Thayers Witch Hazel Alcohol Free Rose Petal Toner. I get this product for $9.29 at Target.
- DERMA E Vitamin E Oil. I get this product for $9.20 at Walgreens/CVS
- DERMA E Hydrating Eye Cream. I get this product for $11.79 at Target.
- Neutrogena Hyroboost Gel Moisturizer. I get this product for $16.99 at Target.
So as you can see, none of my products alone are over $18. Some products I listed will last well past 3 months, others are more like a 1-2 month purchase.
This is the cost I love to see! Affordable products that do a great job!
My total skin regimen products cost combined is $61.25!
That is the cost of one skincare item in some brands/stores. Insane!
But hey, if you love those products and they are working for you then my all means DO YOU! I just know for our home budget, I cannot and will not spend over $100 on skincare products!
Now sometimes, usually once a week, I do like to treat myself to a mask.
I do use the Teami Blends Green Tea Detox face mask once a week.
I get this on Amazon for $25, but since I only use once a week, it lasts a long time. This is my treat myself product and that product is still under $30!
So all in all, I keep my skincare routine and products pretty simple and cost effective.
Which means I can quickly get through my nighttime skin care and have time to binge watch a favorite show on Netflix.
As a mama, its all about finding the “me time” in the day!
What are some of your favorite drugstore skincare products? I’d love to try some new ones out!
