Cleaning seems like a never ending task, especially as a mom or parent. The trick is, cleaning does not have to be a long tedious task. Here are tips to clean quick and even some things you may be missing.
Cleaning your house can seem like a daunting task. Especially when kids are involved because as soon as you clean one area, the kids come through like tornados and mess it all up. But you can clean quick even with kids around.
I usually try and speed clean quick when the kids aren’t in the house or after they go to bed.
But some days that just isn’t possible so I have them help too!
You can see that here in my nighttime routine with kids.
Overall I will try to do a deep clean once a month and some of these items, you may be forgetting about.

Ceiling Fans
This item may don’t necessarily forget to clean because when the fan stops you can see the dust that’s been collected.
Now what most people do is grab a cloth or even a fancy ceiling fan cleaning tool and attempt to clean it without getting any dust on the bed or floor.
But here is a neat hack to clean it without dust falling.
Take an old pillow case, open it and put it over the fan blade, then slowly drag the opened part along the blade and all the dust will fall into the pillow case instead of all over the bed/floor.
This will save time and money because you no longer have to clean up the mess from cleaning the fan in the first place.
Just shake out the pillow case and wash it. Done.
Wash the Washing Machine
Now this may be something you are forgetting to clean because if you think about you, you may be thinking a washing machine is self cleaning.
But not really.
The washing machine is washing away all the dirt, dust, grime, etc. from your clothing, towels, rugs, sheets, etc.
Sometimes all that yuckiness gets stuck in the washing machine. And sometimes it gets a little smelly.
So it’s recommended at least once a month that you clean your washing machine.
Now thankfully they have these little pods that you just throw in your washer and it cleans it.
I use these Affresh pods to clean my machine and it works wonders.
The washing machine smells amazing after and it sparkles like new. It saves time and your back because there is no scrubbing needed.
Involve the Kids
Make it a game. Make it a race. Make it fun.
I bet they will help you out (with age appropriate chores) if you make it a game.
Personally I will say whoever gets done first, wins. Or whoever cleans up 10 toys gets XYZ. This usually gets them all excited and makes them want to clean up.
Set a Timer
Setting a timer for 10 minutes, 30 minutes, or even 60 minutes will force yourself to get as much done during this time frame.
Just like mentioned with the kids and making it a game, this is sort of the same concept.
Except is more of a challenge or competition with yourself and the timer.
See if you can get one room clean in that amount of time, or one organizational task during that time frame.
Use Helpful Cleaning Tools
Now this may get expensive, but it doesn’t have to be.
I will say, I love my Dyson cordless V11 torque vacuum but it was a splurge. I had been wanting a new vacuum for years and finally did it and I haven’t looked back.
I love the concept of a cordless vacuum and there are plenty of models out there that will make the job easier.
No cords means you can speed clean (vacuum) a room without having to switch outlets or have the cord be in the way.
But you don’t have to run out and buy an expensive tool just to clean quick.
I got some of my items at the Dollar Tree or Target.
Microfiber cloths are a perfect example. You can get a multipack at Target, or you can pick up one at the Dollar Tree to test out for $1!
I love the microfiber cloths for cleaning glass. It doesn’t streak like other towels or paper towels and just leaves a nice polished look.
I also will use them to soak up water from counter tops or get the dust of the entertainment center.
This one towel is multifunctional. That makes for a quick clean.
Another tools I love is my Swiffer WetJet. I love this for quick clean up mop jobs.
It works great in the bathroom to get behind the toilet and I love it for my kitchen so I can get in those narrow spaces because the head of the Swiffer rotates.
This is great for a speed mop job.
Another great item is a multi-surface cleaner. Get one that smells great and you can essentially wipe down your whole house with one bottle of spray and a cloth.
Talk about an easy clean quick hack! But if you prefer to not use harsh chemicals in your home, you can always use essential oils and some coconut oil to clean your home.
Young Living actually has a whole line of cleaning products that are safe and natural for your home. This is great especially with kids and pets.
Hopefully these tips have helped motivate you to clean quick and get things done today!
