Entertaining kids can be exhausting as a mom stuck at home. Kids want to be entertained, so I’ve compiled a list of fun activities to do at home with kids.
Fun activities to do at home with kids can be challenging to come up with. Especially if it is too hot or too cold to go outside!
This is why us moms need to have some tricks up our sleeves without the traditional watch TV and play board games (while those are still totally acceptable and will work too!)
But if you don’t feel like playing that board game with the kids or battling fights over which TV show to watch, then try these 13 fun activities to do inside.
Bubbles in the Tub
I’ve talked about this a few times and its always a hit with my kids! Take a tube of bubbles or even a bubble gun and let them go to town inside the tub! Just try and relax though mom, remember its just soap.
Washi Tape Racetrack
This one requires some sort of masking tape or washi tape.
You just create a track or race course, or if your kids are older, let them go to town making their very own racetrack!
Plus the masking tape or washi tape will come right up without sticking to the floors! Kids will love it!
Arts & Crafts
This may be a traditional answer too and you can find all sorts of easy crafts to make on Pinterest with things you may already have around the house.
Movie “Theater”
Get out some comfy chairs or pillows and blankets to make your own movie “theater”. Make it comfy and cozy. Grab some snacks. Rent a new movie or pick one of their favorites and create a whole new experience of watching a movie.
Car Ride with Music
Throw them in the car and take a drive mama! Get out of the house even if its too hot or cold, your car most likely has heat or AC.
Take a drive around the neighborhood and play car games (like these mentioned in the road trip post).
Or even just take a drive and blast some music and have a sing-a-long and let them just “get outside” even if they aren’t actually leaving the car.
Dress-up Theater
Have your kids create a story with some dress up clothes or let them wear some of your or your husbands clothes (ones you don’t mind them actually wearing) and let them put on a show for you!
Dance Party with YouTube
Put on a age appropriate music video or kid songs (there are plenty of choices, trust me!) and let your kids get the wiggles out by dancing around being silly!
Hide-n-Seek
Another traditional but sometimes forgotten game to play inside!
Build a Huge Block Tower
Gather all the blocks, Legos, wooden blocks in the house and build a huge tower and see how big they can get it without falling over! BONUS: this helps with hand-eye coordination.
Play-Doh
Let them build, create, and design using play-doh. Or even make your own play-doh and let them help!
Bath Tub Painting
Take some washable paint and let them paint the tub! They will get a kick out of it and it will probably get very messy, hence the washable paint. Even let the kids wash it off and play with the water to clean up after themselves. Win-Win!
Act like a Animal
Give them an animal and tell them to act like that animal. It may get repetitive for you parents, but they will crack up! Or if you have multiple kids, tell them to pick one out for their sibling. Start with “A” and work your way through the alphabet.
DIY Pizza
Have a make your own pizza night with fun toppings and let them make their own pizza! You could even do a dessert pizza with yummy sweet toppings for a little treat!
Last but not least,
Kid Alone Play Time
Let them be bored. Let them play alone. They will survive. They can use their imagination run free and they can think of stuff to do all on their own!
