Homeschool Organization

July 25, 2020 by Amelia Zamora Leave a Comment

You might have already made the decision to homeschool or you are seriously thinking about it (or forced to distance learn). Now is the daunting task of getting organized to do it! Here are my homeschool organization ideas and tips!

homeschool organization

Homeschooling does not have to be stressful, especially if you are organized. Homeschool organization is key to a successful homeschooling experience.

If you haven’t already, make sure and check out my homeschooling tips and tricks post here for some inspiration and ideas on how to homeschool.

Kid Table & Chairs

Now that you have picked your dedicated homeschooling or learning space, (as suggested here) you have to get it all organized.

This table and chair set, linked here, is the perfect size for young kids. Having a space they can sit and learn is crucial.

They even have little tables with built in storage for pencils, papers, etc.

Everyday Supply Box

Just like at school, you should have a supply box for your kids at home too.

A small pencil box to keep crayons, scissors, markers, pencil, glue, etc. They can place these on the small table or you can store within a desk when not in use.

This way all their daily “tools” are easy to find and easy to just pull out when needed.

Paper Filing System

Whether that is an actual cabinet for all the papers, books, and craft projects or you just use a file folders with tabs to organize all the paperwork.

Craft Supply Tote

Keeping all the craft supplies in one place is easy to pull out for any project. Keeping all the paints, smocks, paper plates, heavy duty glue, googly eyes, cotton balls, popsicle sticks, etc. in one big tote box can keep everything in one place and save on space if you are working in a small environment.

Even subscribing to a monthly delivery craft box can save on space too and have the project already chosen for you, takes out the guess work of what project to have your kids work on.

WeCraftBox has some great options, linked here.

Planner

Whether it is a plain calendar or a weekly/daily planner, you need something to get yourself (as the teacher) organized.

This way you can plan in advance and know what supplies you will need and what project/craft and topic you will be teaching on any given day.

This also makes it easier to create a schedule that you and your kid can stick to and make the experience a positive one.

Visual Aids

You may need to organize the space around you by creating a more visual learning atmosphere.

This can be posters or weather/daily charts if you child is younger. This can be academic charts or maps.

It can be whatever your child is into, that will help create that organized “school” environment to help the transition.

Bins for Learning Tools

If your child is in elementary school, investing in some fun manipulatives to give your child a more hands-on learning approach might be worth it.

But don’t forget to buy a bin or clear tote to keep them in! That way they are easily visible and put away nicely when not in use.

Unfix cubes, shapes for pattern making, color sorting kits, etc. all make great tools for hands-on learning.

These bins are also great for storing these tools as well. Or even using plastic containers from food items (washed out of course) like the container potato salad comes in.

Label Maker

This will be your new best friend. It will come in handy for labelling totes, folders, etc.

You can get a plain and easy to use label maker. Or you could use a Cricut cutting machine to make pretty label designs and decals for your storage bins and organization items.

Hopefully these have given you some inspiration for homeschool organization and get you prepared to take on this homeschooling or distance learning journey!

Leave a comment on what are you looking forward to on your homeschooling journey?

back in my @thedailygrindplanner planner era and w back in my @thedailygrindplanner planner era and while I needed to take a few months off daily planning and checking boxes, I also started to realize I was just going through the motions of my “big dream goals” and not actually ACCOMPLISHING anything. So here we are back in our planner era and knowing it will bring simplicity and accountability back to my life makes me excited about the future possibilities 🌸🧡
