Congrats! You’re pregnant! Now while you have already planned the adorable way you are going to announce your pregnancy, you may have forgotten some crucial items! Here are some pregnancy must haves. My top items to get you through pregnancy smoothly!
Every pregnancy is different. Having been through it twice myself, I can say that each pregnancy was completely different.

My first pregnancy I had morning sickness and the thought of some food made me want to vomit. I retained so much water weight, I looked like a beached whale. Not kidding.
My second pregnancy I did not bloat up as much (even though I gained the same amount of weight) and had zero morning sickness, but I was always exhausted.
My cravings were different with both pregnancies too (even though both were girls). So that proves my point that every pregnancy is different.
But items you may need during pregnancy isn’t always so different.
Pregnancy must haves and top items recommended:
Pregnancy pillow or extra pillows in general.
I had a pregnancy pillow with my first and loved it. It was magical and since it basically wraps around both ways, I didn’t have to worry about taking the pillow with me when I rolled over a thousand times a night.
My second pregnancy I didn’t really care for the pregnancy pillow, and preferred to just have extra standard sized pillows on the bed that I could maneuver and place exactly where I want, in whatever awkward looking way I needed.
Preggo Pops
These things were a life saver. They are basically suckers that you suck on to keep from getting or being nauseous. They work wonders and you may need them your entire pregnancy, not just the first trimester.
Maternity Clothing
It is inevitable, you will need new clothes. YAY SHOPPING! Maternity clothes have changed my friends, no more moo-moos like in Mad Men. They have adorable swim suits, pants, shorts, tanks, shirts, dresses, etc. I got a bunch of my maternity clothes at Target and Motherhood Maternity.
PRO TIP: Go to Motherhood Maternity and try stuff on to get a proper size, even if you are newly pregnant, they have fake belly’s you can put on (odd yes but bare with me) to see how big you may get and can size accordingly. Even if you don’t want to buy from there I highly recommend going in store if you can and trying things on and using the test-belly.
Skincare
You’re skin will change during pregnancy and there is a bunch of products you may not be able to use anymore that you have been using pre-pregnancy.
Anything with salicylic acid, you have to avoid. Its not recommended during pregnancy, but of course check with your doctor, as I am not one.
But from one mama to another, I would just take the precaution and avoid harsh chemicals. Plus there are plenty of skincare lines and products out there that do not contain harsh chemicals you can try out.
I used Belif skincare during my pregnancy and it worked great! No harsh chemicals but kept my skin hydrated and clean. Read that review here.
Pregnancy Approved Medication
Check with your doctor if you are on any medications and you get pregnant. Some you might have to get off of and some might be pregnancy safe.
And stock up on pregnancy approved medication in your home medicine cabinet too! Advil is NOT on the approved list, but Tylenol I believe is considered okay if you must take it. (Once again, double check with a medical professional).
I remember I had such a bad head cold/allergies during my pregnancies and I could only take Tylenol and Claritin for allergies. I couldn’t take my normal Allegra, but Claritin was okayed by my Doctor.
So always make sure and double check and have some stuff on hand just in case.
So there you go! My top pregnancy must haves to help with a smooth nine months. Let me know in the comments how far along in your pregnancy journey you are!
Also, make sure and read this post about items you will need post-partum! There are some shockers in there!
