Is a UV Sanitizer Toothbrush Worth the Cost?

You may be thinking what is the difference between a UV sanitizer toothbrush and a normal manual toothbrush? Is it that big of a difference, a toothbrush is a toothbrush right? Is it really worth the cost and which one is best?

These were all the same questions I had when I first saw a UV sanitizer toothbrush. I had zero clue why anyone would need such a product.

I figured, a toothbrush is a toothbrush, it all does the same thing, right?

Yes this is true, BUT there is a difference in the cleanliness of the toothbrushes you purchase.

When I first came across the TAO Clean UV sanitizer toothbrush, my first reaction is wow this thing is pretty.

It is very aesthetically pleasing, I will say. It comes in so many different color choices, and now patterns too!

But that price tag was a shocker, $149. And I thought, why?

Now you can easily go to Target and get a pack of manual plain toothbrushes for under $10, in multiple different colors.

What you won’t get is a toothbrush that is self-cleaning.

You read that right, self-cleaning toothbrush.

What eventually sold me on the TAO Clean UV sanitizer toothbrush was the fact that the toothbrush stand not only charges the toothbrush, but it uses UV lights to actually dry and sanitize the toothbrush after EVERY USE!

Which means, you won’t just be using the toothbrush and putting it back in a cabinet somewhere until the next use where it can accumulate bacteria and then you put all that back in your mouth! GROSS!

Now if you don’t want to splurge on the sonic uv sanitizer toothbrush, TAO Clean also has a sanitizing germ shield which can be used on ANY toothbrush. Read more about that gadget here.

I got this TAO Clean sonic UV sanitizer toothbrush sent to me to review. I will say, I wish I had bought one sooner and will be purchasing one for my husband as well!

I also love that there is a sensitive setting, meaning the vibrations won’t be as harsh if you have sensitive teeth.

The toothbrush also doesn’t physically move like other electric toothbrushes, it uses 40,000 tiny brush strokes per minute to sweep away plaque and gently polish away surface stains.

Watch below a full review and demo of the TAO Clean Sonic toothbrush.

Here is an overview of the product:

PROS:

  • comes in multiple colors and design
  • stand charges and sanitizes the toothbrush using UV light
  • kills bacteria on the toothbrush after every use
  • aesthetically pleasing
  • simple design
  • has built in nightlight that can be turned on or off
  • light to show it is working
  • whitens teeth (in my opinion it made my teeth so much whiter after using)
  • has sensitive setting if you have sensitive teeth, it will lower the vibration of the toothbrush

CONS:

  • price $149 (but use code MAMABEAR for 50% off, making it around $75)
  • would be a pain to take traveling
  • sells out quick in some of the colors

Overall I really love the UV sanitizer toothbrush and think its worth it the price. To lower the cost, you can use code MAMABEAR at checkout to save 50% off the TAO Clean website.
