You want to be a great mom, you want to raise kids that can grow into decent adults, you might want to start your own business, you might want to create something new. Whatever your mom goals are, here are some ways to accomplish those while still being a great mom.
In order to get anything done when you have kids is to get them set up with something first.
Whether that is an arts and craft project, some new toys that got shoved in a closet that they forgot about, or an educational tv program and snacks.
Whatever they may enjoy that will give you an thirty minutes or an hour (or more if you’re lucky) of time to get something done.
For example, when I need to get some work done I get them situated with breakfast and a tv show so I can quickly get something accomplished.
Now this may not last for hours on end like I’d like in order to get things done but as a mom you learn to get things done in small chunks of time.
If you have work to do on a computer and need some time to work, take the kids and your laptop or tablet outside.
This allows the kids to play and have some fresh air while you can get some work done.
This may not be completely productive time because you still have to keep an ear out but this is a great way to multitask keeping the kids entertained while getting work done.
For some ideas on outside activities to keep the kids entertained, read here for my list of ideas!
Staying organized is a for sure way to keep on track especially if you have to multitask.
You can get printables and bundles, like this Work at Home Bundle filled with worksheets, printables, and ebooks, to keep you on track and organized.

Being organized will help you stay on a productive track as well as have time carved out for your kids so they don’t feel left out.
Most of the time, especially young kids, just want to do whatever it is you are doing. This can get frustrating when they start to draw on your papers or click the buttons on your laptop.
Instead of getting frustrated and yelling, set up a “work station” for them right next to you. Set it up with paper, pens/crayons/pencils, a pretend laptop (toy one or just an old one) and give them something to work on.
Or set them up with an educational program like ABCmouse to play and “work” on while you get some work done of your own.
This may give you a solid 20-30 minutes of time to bust out a quick email or item on your checklist.
This one may just be a mental battle to overcome in order to be the best multitasker. You may not get everything done during the day that you want and that is okay.
Some days you will get more done and others less, the important part is you just keep going.
Keep it up and little by little it will get done and it will add up to major progress.
Work while the kids sleep. Whether that is an hour or two at nap time or after they go to bed.
I usually can get about an hour or two of work done while my youngest naps and my oldest I set up with one of the above mentioned items.
Or if I am lucky they will both nap and I can bust out some major progress.
But if that doesn’t happen or I do house work during nap times instead of blog work, then I take advantage of bedtimes.
Once the kids get to bed, then I sit down with my stuff spread out and I can get major work done until around 9pm, then I’m burnt out and its time to relax.
That’s an important one too, don’t forget to unwind.
While this may be an odd category for multitasking and getting those mom goals accomplished, you can’t do your best work or be your best multitasking self if you are burnt out.
So take time every night to unwind. For example, I usually stop working around 8:30-9pm and then for about an hour or 2, I will watch a tv show and have a bowl of ice cream or whatever treat I have and just sit on the couch and relax.
This way I still get my “me” mom time (my husband works nights), but I still get some things accomplished during the day!
As a mom we tend to want to “do it all” but in all honesty if you are trying to run a business and get some work done with kids underway and being crazy, chances are you aren’t getting as much done as you’d probably desire.
This is where having Grandma or a relative step in is useful! Even if you don’t want to hire a full blown babysitter because you will technically be in the house with them, just having someone come keep a watchful eye and provide entertainment could be a blessing to get some work done.
A few hours once or few times a week could provide you the luxury of getting things done without the interruptions.
If you don’t live close to family and don’t trust or want to hire a babysitter, then have your significant other help out.
Have them take the kids outside to play or on a long walk, something that will provide you with time to get stuff done.
Hopefully these ideas and tips were helpful and maybe even gave you some motivation to get multitasking and accomplish all those mom goals!
