Finding the right type of non toxic deodorant is hard and usually when you find one you like, you stick with it!

I didn’t. I had been using one brand of deodorant for YEARS! Since high school, which for me is over 10 years ago! Now I loved my deodorant. It smelled great, it didn’t leave a white residue and it worked. Although, recently my mom informed me that some deodorants contain aluminum, which has been linked to breast cancer. After that, I was determined to find a non toxic deodorant.

I never knew that. Perhaps I should’ve though since breast cancer runs in my family.

Anyways, my mom told me to look at my deodorant ingredients and she was right, the type of deodorant I was using did in fact contain aluminum.

So we headed to target to check out some other deodorants.

Now, there are a ton to choose from but you have to look carefully because sometimes they list aluminum on other places besides the ingredient list.

The brand I usually use does carry a aluminum free deodorant so I grabbed that in the scent cucumber.

My mom also suggested the Native brand deodorant to test out as well. So I grabbed a travel/sample size version of that brand in the scent coconut/vanilla.

The next day I tested my usual brand and it was a very smelly smell. It actually gave me a headache after wearing it for a few hours. It was almost too cucumber-y and gave off a weird odor to it when mixed with sweat.

So after a few days of using my usual brand and hating it, I tried out the Native brand one.

I put it on and my initial reaction was since it was a white solid deodorant not the clear like I was used to, I thought it was going to leave residue.

Boy was I wrong. It didn’t leave any type of residue on my skin and it smelled amazing!

The true test was once I sweat. I hit the gym to get a full test run of this deodorant and man was I pleasantly surprised.

It didn’t give off a weird smell or make me smell at all! It actually kept its coconut/vanilla scent, which at first I thought would be too sweet and smelly but its not.

It’s extremely subtle.

The test of the gym and then the following days running after 2 toddlers in 90 plus degree heat really confirmed my results that this Native brand was my new favorite!

It’s been over 2 weeks of using the Native brand now it smells great, its aluminum free, and most importantly, IT WORKS!

PROS:

  • Smells great
  • Comes in different scents
  • Aluminum free
  • Available in travel sizes
  • Doesn’t leave residue on skin or clothing
  • Sweat resistant and works to make sure you don’t stink

CONS:

  • It’s on the pricier side, about $12 for a full size deodorant at Target
  • Does not glide on very smoothly like a clear gel deodorant but it works so I’ll take the multiple swipes needed

If YOU want to get some free mini size Native Deodorant, use this link for a free mini size with purchase!

In conclusion, I’d recommend this deodorant to friends and family, which I actually did! This stuff works. I was a skeptic at first but now I can’t imagine using anything else.
